Easter Baskets (Part 1)

Happy Tuesday!

Today I am trying something new for me.  I am trying to do a picture tutorial.  Let me know if you like it and if you would like to see more.

Today’s tutorial is on making small Easter Baskets.  I did not come up with this design and I couldn’t find the original artist to give credit to.  This design is all over You Tube and Pinterest.

Today will be part 1 of 3. In this tutorial we will make the box and the bunny.  The duck will be posted tomorrow and the lamb on Thursday.

Today we will make the box that all of these cute critters are attached to.

You will need a piece of card stock that measures 8.5 by 4.25.  With the 8.5 side at the top of your scoreboard you will score at 3.5 and at 5.  Turn the paper 1/4 turn so that the paper has the 4.25 side at the top and score at 1”.  Turn you paper so that the opposite 4.25 side is at the top and score at 1” again.  Now reinforce all of you scored lines.  Next cut the 3.5 and 5 inch score lines on both sides, up to the 1 inch scored line.  Glue the little flap that you just made and the edge of one of the long sides next to it.  Now fold your sides together and stick them with the glue that you just added.  Repeat on the opposite side and your box should look like the one above.

Now lets see what we need to make the bunny.

1/2″ circle punch 2 pc’s pink

3/8″ circle punch 4 pc’s pink

These are the steps for assembly:

Assemble the feet by adhering the 3/4″ circles at the bottom, the 1/2″ circles at the top and the 3/8″ circles on either side of the 1/2″ pieces.

Now glue the feet to one of the top note die pieces as shown. Assemble the ears by gluing the pink ovals to the larger ovals, and the small brown ovals on an angle to the top of the ears. Glue the ears to the top of the top note die as shown.

To assemble the eyes, glue the black 3/4″ circles as shown and cut the 1″ brown circle in half for the eye lids; adhere them with foam squares.  Add a highlight with a white gel pen for character.

photo 4 (23)

To assemble the nose you will need to cut about 1/4 of the 1  1/4″ brown circle off.  Now using foam squares, adhere them next to each other as shown.  Add your pink heart and some whisker marks with a fine tip black pen or marker.

Finally glue them to the box made at the beginning with the bottom of the curve in the top note die at the edge of the bottom of the box. Add you handle with glue dots and you are finished.  Now sit back and admire how cute this bunny is.

You can add a bow to make the bunny a girl.

Additional supplies used:

Tomorrow I will show you how to make the cute Duck.

Let me know if you have any question and if you like this picture tutorial and want to see more.
